A therapist advised me that due to my balance problem a walking staff may be a better option for me as a walking stick offered a lower stooped controlled balance, which although good, perhaps I should try a higher level of control. So I decided to give a look on the net where I found this excellent walking staff with the BIG plus of the English rose and England written underneath. Brilliant buy, quick delivery and - - - my therapist was right my balance and walking has improved no end.

This is a quality product for the price. Nice wood with good leather grip strap. Nicely finished in all ways and adorned with a clearly embossed English rose. It appears very robust and has the useful option of a rubber or metal end to match relevant terrain. Would highly endorse this product at this time (just bought).

I'm very pleased with the walking staff. I'm a 5ft 10 inch 65 year old guy, the staff is the ideal height and weight for me it's well made and the combi ferrule which I thought might have been a weak point looks like it's there for life.

My reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the finish.

The hole in the stick through which the strap is fitted appears to have been drilled after the finish was applied causing the finish to come away from the stick for about an inch above and below the hole.

I consider this a minor problem as my walking staff will have a hard life and I'll recoat it every year or so anyway but if the hole had been drilled before the finish was applied this minor problem would probably not exist.

All things considered I think the staff is a very good product, it's fit for purpose and I have no problem recommending it.

The two chestnut hiking sticks - each with a wonderful English Rose carving - were bought as Christmas presents for my bother and brother-in-law, who do a lot of walking country wide. The sticks are the perfect height for both men, who have a few back and foot problems between them.

They were delivered quickly and securely so, having now seen the sticks 'in the flesh' so to speak, I'm sure these beautifully crafted products will be of great help when they're both half way round one of Wainwright's Walks!

By the way, my sister, Liz, is now complaining about having to share my b-i-l's hiking stick when he's not walking and she is. There just might be a surprise birthday present coming her way.
