Is It Easy to Walk with Yaktrax?
The Yaktrax Walks are very easy to walk with due to their steel coils and lightweight design. Unlike spikes, these steel coils maximise friction without getting stuck in ice or snow, so you'll receive a consistent amount of traction and stability.
How Do I Put Yaktrax On?
You can put each Yaktrax Ice Grip on in one swift movement. Simply sit with one leg over the other, and stretch the first Yaktrax from your toe to your heel. Repeat with the other foot, and you're ready to go!
Is There Anything I Should Check Before Using Yaktrax?
Before going anywhere with your Yaktrax, make doubly sure they are on correctly. Please check that:
- The word 'heel' or 'toe on your Yaktrax cannot be read on the heel or toe of your shoe (this means they are inside out).
- The coils are sitting flat against the sole of your shoe and are not sticking out past its edge.
- The outer band consistently grips the outer edge of your footprint, all the way around your shoe (this should not touch the sole).
- There is a circular knob visible on the webbing of your Yaktrax covering your sole.
Will Yaktrax Fit My Shoes?
The Yaktrax Walks are flexible enough to fit over all kinds of shoes, including anything from work boots to trainers. To make sure they'll remain securely on your desired footwear, measure the sole circumference of the shoe in question before making your purchase, as described in the section above.
Can I Walk On Pavement With the Yaktrax?
The Yaktrax are not made for use on surfaces without snow or ice, including pavement and gravel. To avoid damaging your ice grips, always take them off before walking over such terrain.
Do Yaktrax Eliminate the Risk of Ice?
Yaktrax can help reduce the risk of falls on ice and snow, but they won't eliminate the inherent risks of such terrains, including the risk of injuries. Therefore, always walk with caution over such surfaces and always make sure your Yaktrax have been put on correctly.
How Heavy Are the Yaktrax Walks?
The Yaktrax Pros are very light, so you'll be able to take them off and carry them without trouble. Depending on your chosen size, each pair will weigh between 57 - 113g (2 - 4oz).
