This does what it claims, it does go flat on the ground even if it has been put down quite far ahead or behind you. It has plenty of grip. There is the bonus of being able to swap the rubber foot for a toothed metal ring for icy conditions . This you buy separately.
It is easy to fit but if you have a stick that is the right length for you, you will have to cut off two inches so that it remains the same length stick when it is fitted. What I did was to buy a second stick and cut it down. I think if you changed your mind after cutting your stick down or decided not to replace it once it had worn down, if you put back the normal rubber foot it would not be the end of the world. You can replace just the very end when it is worn out. For me, it was probably unnecessary because my walking is not that bad, but I think if your walking is bad or you are afraid of slipping, particularly in places like malls where there are often very glassy floor tiles, then it will defiantly give you confidence.
