While all hiking sticks need to be slightly taller than ordinary canes, the Chestnut Long Shepherd's Crook is 137cm long, which means that it will meet the needs of even the tallest users. The wooden shaft can also easily be cut to fit your height even better. It is made entirely from chestnut wood and features a highly practical crooked handle that makes this stick particularly popular among bramble pickers.

A proper wooden shepherd's crook is much taller than an ordinary country walking stick and very closely resembles the simple, naturally made sticks shepherds have traditionally used to herd sheep.

The crook handle has traditionally used by shepherds when herding their flock, as the crook handle makes the stick easy for the shepherd to wield and can also be used for catching sheep around the neck. Today, crook-handled walking sticks are still highly popular for hiking and particularly loved by bramble pickers.

The smooth chestnut handle is comfortable to hold and practical to hook over your arm when not in use. As the whole country walking stick is made from one long piece of wood, the colour of the handle perfectly matches that of the shaft, giving the stick a perfectly natural look, with no added embellishments or collars.

This Chestnut Shepherd's Crook is grown from coppiced wood, which means that each stick has a unique and natural charm. Coppiced wood is known for its strength and durability, but chestnut in particular is renowned for its rich brown colour and attractive texture.

UK delivery is FREE for orders of £40 and over. For orders below this threshold, delivery will cost a flat fee of £4.95 (including VAT).

We use the Royal Mail postal service - as well as other trusted couriers - to deliver our items. This means you'll receive your order as quickly as possible by a trusted delivery provider. We deliver within the UK only. Unfortunately, due to restrictions with our couriers, we are unable to ship items outside of the UK. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Unwanted or unsuitable item exchanges and refunds

We want you to be happy every time you shop with us, but sometimes a product might not be what you were expecting or just isn't right. You may wish to return your product for an exchange or a refund. That's no problem at all, but first we need to give you a returns authorisation number. This helps us process your return as quickly as possible. The shepherd’s crook came within a couple of days of ordering … The crook is sturdy and a perfect for my husband to use. Very happy with purchase... and would highly Recommend. As an observation perhaps a spare tip could be supplied to be used once the stick has been cut to height requirements.

The buying process was quick and simple and it arrived at my door much sooner than I expected. It's very well made, and I'm extremely pleased with it, except for one thing (hence 4 stars instead of 5). The mouth of the crook is too narrow. The neck of our small Jack Russell won't fit in, let alone a sheep's. Even though I know you hook a sheep by it's back leg...not it's neck, I still think the mouth of the crook should be wider, but would still highly recommend it for hiking.
